Laying Down the Law , Now Follow It ……….

by tophatal …..

It may well take common sense but sooner or later calmer heads and a game of “chicken” will take place before the executives of the Orlando Magic come to a clear decision as to the future of their unsettled center, Dwight Howard . For the past two seasons , it was clear that the franchise and player were dealing with “borrowed time” , as it related to their respective futures. Ousted head coach Stan Van Gundy , GM Otis Smith and the player simply failed to deliver that much-needed NBA title .

The Houston Rockets were the most active team leading up to Thursday night’s June 28, 2012 draft, making trades to position for a bigger move. As Thursday began, Houston held the No. 12, 16 and 18 picks, but more maneuvering was likely as the team took aim at a superstar big man, possibly Dwight Howard. AP Photo/ Mark Weber ….

While, Howard has hinted that they would prefer to make his future with the Brooklyn Nets , the Magic are not obligated to appease the center . There are known to be several interested parties wishing to acquire Dwight Howard’s services . Among the teams , now showing a keen interest , are the Nets , Los Angeles Lakers and the Houston Rockets . All of whom are intent on acquiring the three-time Defensive Player of the Year , along with his considerable playing abilities . Lakers’ GM Mitch Kupchak and team owner Dr Jerry Buss are keenly aware that the team needs the presence of a big man in order to bolster their offensive capabilities . And as good as Andrew Bynum and Pau Gasol were said to be over the course of last season , there is no doubt that their inconsistent performances were one of the many reasons for the Lakers’ failures in the postseason . Lakers’ head coach Mike Brown knows that the window of opportunity for the franchise’s most celebrated player over the last decade , is quickly closing for Kobe Bryant to win a sixth NBA title, and match Michael Jordan’s feat .

The Orlando Magic’s aspirations are to be seen as a viable contender within the Eastern Conference and anything that they can do to achieve that process , they will strive to make that happen. Newly installed GM Rob Hennigan , along with CEO Alex Martins know that there will be a multitude of offers that they will have to siphon through , if they are to make the best possible evaluation as to what best fits their needs . They have chosen to shift ….. Ryan Anderson to the New Orleans Hornets in exchange for Gustavo Ayon . It will be interesting to see how the Magic and a number of teams fare with a new salary cap for the 2012-13 season set at $58.044 million . Far too often , these franchises have chosen not to follow the mandate set by the league hierarchy . Meanwhile , that dunderhead” known as David Stern tries to create the perception that the league happens to be in a healthy financial position . Truth be known , that is that farthest thing from the truth and there are those out there , who simply have no idea what the fuck they are actually are talking about , while offering up the most asinine of opinions , as to what they view just happens to be wrong with the game from an economic standpoint without offering up evidence to support their position.

With the Orlando Magic yet to settle on the hiring of a new head coach to succeed Stan Van Gundy and the franchise having yet to set publicly the candidates that they interviewed . It easy to see why this franchise has been repeatedly ridiculed in recent years , as they have not shown the capacity or intellect to convince their fans they actually know what they are doing . And while Dwight Howard has not been the most amenable of players , continually showing his lack of maturity respect for the franchise and in many respects the growth in his game . We have idiotic fans and analysts alike , fawning over the imbecile while trying to espouse his “ alleged “ great traits .

Alex Martins , if as he states , seeks to make the franchise relevant , then it is clear that a multi-player and multi-team deal will be needed to facilitate a proposed trade of this magnitude . Brooklyn Nets’ owner Mikhail Prokhorov and GM Billy King are intent on team’s roster and that intent was recently shown when the franchise acquired Joe Johnson from the Atlanta Hawks and the three years remaining on a bloated contract that will see the player receive in excess of $62 million .

. Howard, if he seeks the best opportunity to gain an NBA title , then his best possibility may well lay in the relationship he has with Kobe Bryant . It has been rumored although each offers the other professional courtesy but their relationship has been less than conducive and is said to be considerably tepid . The Lakers are prepared to “pull the trigger” on the proposed mega-deal . Now comes the question which two players are likely to be moved in the opposite direction should the Los Angeles Lakers facilitate this deal ? Dwight Howard is due approximately $19.5 million on the final year of his contract and it would appear that the player most likely to be moved from the Lakers’ roster appears to be Pau Gasol . The Lakers’ center is due $19,000,00 for 2012 and $19.285 million in 2013 . The Orlando Magic however , may feel that Andrew Bynum has the greater upside than the more versatile Gasol and therein lays the possible dilemma facing Mitch Kupchak and the Lakers’ front office .

The Brooklyn Nets are seeking have a triumvirate of Deron Williams , Joe Johnson and as envisaged Dwight Howard as part of their 2012-13 roster. Billy King , now has to entice the Orlando Magic with a good enough inducement by way of a possible trade . If that means either parting with Kris Humphries as well as Brook Lopez as part of multiple player exchange deal , then so be it . The Nets’ front office keen to make an impact and with their impending move to their multi-billion venue the franchise needs more than a simple marketing ploy beyond the Barclays Center/ Atlantic Yards Development and that of a franchise that has yet to truly gain any marked relevance within the NBA . A choice will be made by the Orlando Magic but the question will always remain , will it be the right one ?

As to the NBA and the wildly audacious moves that have been made this off-season what thoughts if any do you have concerning the teams’ maneuvers ? Simply chime in with a comment as you see fit .

  1. Not content with having signed Ray Allen , the Heat have also signed veteran PF Rashard Lewis . Why am I not surprised by this as the Miami Heat have yet to truly develop any real talent throughout their history beyond having drafted …. Dwyane Wade ? Erik Spoelstra can coach but only proven talent and veterans , as he’s not developed a psyche for nurturing talent .

In essence Spoelstra is simply following in the footsteps of his mentor Pat Riley .

Tammy Torres is down with playing with a par of balls in more ways than one . Your thoughts ?

Truth be told it would not surprise me if the Orlando Magic finds way of really screwing up the issue of dealing …. Dwight Howard ! As it is , they have recently traded …… Ryan Anderson for a bag of ju-ju beans and player who if anything , will be barely serviceable in the NBA . How can anyone in their right mind continue to be either a follower or fervent supporter of this organization ? The Magic’s front office and coaching staff are completely bereft of any meaningful intelligence ! . Oh , and by the way , they have still yet to hire a damn head coach . That’s all you need to know in determining how frigging screwed up this franchise is said to be without the infantile behavior of Dwight Howard being thrown into the mix .

True or untrue , this particular cartoon ?

Dwight Howard shootin’ for the stars if only it weren’t so funny . Because he’s yet to hit anything tangible in his career that’s worth talking about and please don’t throw in him being a three-time DPOY . That’s bull at the end of the day !

Tammy Torres likes to play with balls one pair at a time . And why not ?

It’s been rumored that Tammy can handle a pair balls in one hand while shifting a ‘stick” with the other . Wink wink 😉 …. 😉

As for the combustible and infantile Dwight Howard , why his dumb a#s wasn’t shipped out </u by the Magic long ago , speaks to frigging stupidity of that organization . The city of Orlando doesn’t need a professional NBA franchise . What it actually needs are more who#e houses and gaming joints . LOL,LOL !! But the mayor , the county council and the state legislature were never that god-damn bright to begin with !

Dwight you’re a di#k and a turd . And the whole world has now found that out . ‘nough said !

  2. The boondoggle that just happens to be the Orlando Magic ! How fu#ked up is everyone within the front office of the organization ?

Dwight Howard still remains with the team and they still haven’t found a successor to Stan Van Gundy .

What type of franchise is this ? They’re a frigging god-damn mess from top to bottom ! Not only that but they have since traded Ryan Anderson to the Hornets which says how devoid the Magic are in terms of their personnel decisions and acumen in recent years .

    😦

There’ll come a time when Howard’s game will begin to sag like this female’s breasts . Perhaps sooner , rather than later ?
