A call to arms

A call to arms

There is nothing more disturbing than the continued idiocy that portends as to the self-serving attitude of the modern-day athlete and fans out there who would simply seek to defend the indefensible . Former , seven-time Tour de France winner , Lance Armstrong has become a pariah within his former sport . Not that the sport of cycling can still be taken seriously when its own governing body (International Cycling Union) has been slow to go after the cheaters within cycling and truly punish them with impunity , rather than this continued slap on the wrist and then allowing a number of those cyclists to return to the sport at a later date . Armstrong for is part now is part of an investigation now being conducted by perhaps, the most inept governmental agency within Barack Obama`s administration . The Justice Department , ran rather ineptly by Attorney General , Eric Holder , remains a damn joke .

Holder`s office having previously conducted an investigation into the allegations against the now disgraced cyclist closed that investigation, stating , that were was insufficient evidence against Lance Armstrong to proceed with an indictment and then prosecution . Pardon me , but what has really changed in the ensuing two years that as really brought about these turn of events and changed, when the evidence first gathered, proving willful malfeasance by Armstrong and several members of his cycling team was more than conclusive ? Yet the sheer apathy of is supporters was there to be seen . Just going to show, the apple does not fall far from the tree , when you simply witness blind ignorance and damn stupidity by a group of individuals who are simply frigging clueless and would rather not seek out the information that is there for all to see. .

Lance Armstrong now believes that he should not be punished for his misdeeds , while he harangues former close confidantes , chastising in private , while now offering what is clearly nowhere as sincere , a contrite apology . For the idiots who still remain under the impression, that the USADA (US Anti Doping Agency) overstepped their boundaries in seeking out Armstrong. Simply get a clue , and actually verify the standing that particular institution has , as concerning the sport and specifically all of sports, as it relates to the IOC (International Olympic Committee) , and that the USADA acts in conjunction with the US Olympic Committee , as well as having powers as mandated by the government . Lance Armstrong`s estimated personal fortune $100 million is in jeopardy, and is now subject to several legal civil suits . As to his own charitable foundation , Live Strong , well , that organization is now seeing a precipitous fall off in public and corporation donations , albeit that the athlete no longer has any ties to the foundation he started over a decade ago , in order to seek a cure for various forms of cancer . Armstrong , himself, a cancer survivor, having overcome testicular cancer, parlayed much of the goodwill and empathy received to build a philanthropic effort that over a decade has raised in excess of $250 million for cancer research . Commendable as that might be, Lance Armstrong preyed and played on the sympathy of the public major corporations alike , lying about his heroism and his deeds . Simply inexcusable , yet many amongst us, view it as the athlete , as having done nothing wrong.

For Lance Armstrong, sorry has been the hardest word

By Brent Schrotenboer , USA Today

A day before his famous confession in January, Lance Armstrong called the home of Frankie and Betsy Andreu.

Both were victims of Armstrong, people he bullied and smeared in pursuit of fame and fortune in professional cycling.

He tried to apologize.

“He told me in that phone call he wanted to meet with us, sooner rather than later,” Betsy Andreu told USA TODAY Sports. “I don’t know how Lance expresses his contrition, but ‘sorry’ is just a word unless it’s acted on. Meeting would’ve done wonders.”

She arranged to meet him in April but said he canceled at the 11th hour, telling her he didn’t trust her.

READ: E-mails between Armstrong and Andreu

Four months after he admitted in a lengthy televised interview with Oprah Winfrey that he had doped, lied and bullied for more than 10 years, Armstrong has, for one reason or another, failed to apologize to almost all of the people he promised he would. In some cases, he has tried to reach some who, after years of being attacked by Armstrong, haven’t returned his messages.

Though he had hoped the truth would set him free, Armstrong also has found it potentially could be expensive. The federal government, two insurance companies and others have filed suit against him, saying Armstrong’s confession proved he defrauded them. The potential liability in those cases is more than $135 million for the former cyclist, whose legal argument is essentially that his confession isn’t relevant to the money he collected from them.

Armstrong said he would spend the rest of his life making amends. His critics say it’s the same old self-serving Armstrong, even in contrition. A person close to Armstrong says that’s not the case, though he acknowledged the legal issues.

“It’s way too soon to assess Lance’s post-Oprah conduct and how this will all turn out,” said the person, who didn’t want to be identified because of the sensitivity of the situation. The person said, “Lance is committed to participating in real dialogues and constructive change” but that his attorneys are not going to put him in “positions where he just becomes a punching bag for other people who have their own agendas.”

While we are at it , how is that a mismanaged entity such as the US Postal Service , in the past three years , has lost in excess of $25 billion and is projected to lose as much as $30 billion ($30,000,000,000) for the fiscal year ending September 2013 , is involved in sponsoring a professional cycling team ? Patriotism asides , it is this sort of asinine idiocy that takes place for what is said to be a stand-alone entity . Yet the Post Office`s debts are in fact guaranteed by the US government , ergo , the US taxpayer . There you go folks , your tax dollars simply not at work for you . When pressed on the fact the current US Postmaster General , Patrick Donahoe , seems to be nonplussed by the fact that, Lance Armstrong , having been sponsored and received in excess of $30 million from Donahoe`s concern , has yet to state why he and the USPS hierarchy have not sought legal recourse for the return of the said funds in question . Personally, I am no longer at a loss to see why it is that the Postal Service is so archaic and simply out of touch with new technology as well as being so inefficient ! Yet, time and time again , I repeatedly ere how efficient US businesses tend to be. I have yet to see it, with a number of so-called corporations , who simply cannot grow organically , but tend to do so by the use of creative accounting and layoffs , only to then have their manufacturing or ancillary staff set up in an office or factory overseas , thereby depriving the US workforce of jobs . Am I, missing something here ?

Well by now, a number of you will know by that rapper and entrepreneur Jay-Z has formed a sports` management agency to represent a stable of established sports` stars . Amongst his RocNation Sports Agency signees are, the New York Yankees , Robinson Cano , New York Jets` quarterback , Geno Smith , New York Giants` wide receiver Victor Cruz and Skylar Diggins , recently of the Notre Dame women`s basketball team and drafted by the WNBA`s …. Tulsa Shock . The RocNation agency was formed in conjunction with CAA Sports , one of the worlds biggest sports management and entertainment agencies , with offices worldwide . However , Jay-Z`s latest entrepreneurial endeavor has come under a great deal of scrutiny as well as criticism , because of the way several of the company`s representatives have gone about luring several athletes to sign with the agency .

Now having accumulated an estimate fortune in excess of $450 million , with a budding business empire wherein , Jay-Z, otherwise known as Sean Carter , has multiple business interests, ranging from his upscale night clubs , 40/40 establishments, as well as, a restaurant chain , commercial and residential real estate properties . The rapper is known to be a shrewd businessman , having sold his record label Roc-A-Fella Records , for a reputed $275 million, while still retaining the musical rights to all content performed as an artist while recording for the label . Shrewd indeed , while now having formed RocNation, which now encompasses , fashion and apparel concern , an in-house promotional company , record label , studios , managing and promoting artists signed to the eponymous label. Furthermore, having divested himself of a minority stake in the Brooklyn Nets , and the franchise`s home venue the Barclays Center . It was only a matter of time before the world would begin to speculate were Jay-Z would seek to make his next fortune .

What is now known , concerning Geno Smith`s retaining RocNation as his representation , as an agent , but also for legal matters concerning endorsement deals . It has come to light , that the player , having dropped his original agent , met with representatives from RocNation in something of a clandestine manner , clearly in breaching of NFL rules , because the representatives from the company had yet to be certified by either the league (NFL) and duly recognized by the NFLPA (Players` Union) . To date, no proceedings have been taken against the company by the league hierarchy ,but it does beg the question. Was the company aware that they were in breach of league regulations , in signing the player before having met the criteria of having a certified official sign the player and become his agent ? It is something that has yet to be answered by the rapper or any of his representatives from the company. In light of this however , an impromptu statement was recently made by Smith, stating that he was not lured away from his agent to join RocNation , and that the decision to fire is then agent , was his alone . As to what bearing this might have should either the NFL or Players Union seek to order an investigation , could very well have some ramifications upon how these agents and companies represent themselves in the market place .

The NFL remains a dark and devious world , where one`s word isn’t necessarily a bond of trust or honesty . In 2010 , uber-agent , Drew Rosenhaus negotiated new contracts and deals for a reputed $ 675 million , covering rookies and free agents under his representation . However, in the midst of it all , it should be noted that Rosenhaus , is said to have knowingly poached clients away from rival agents , even when it was known that the players in question remained under contract with their agent at the time . In each of the instances in question, of which there were several , Roger Goodell`s office was said to have found no wrongdoing by Rosenhaus or any of his subordinates from his company , Rosenhaus Sports Representation . Once again, the commissioner , and his office would rather blow smoke up everyone`s rear end , rather than deal with instances, where the image of the NFL is actually being brought into disrepute . How else would you explain the apparent none action by the league even after a number of agents have repeatedly questioned the actions of Dew Rosenhaus and lodged formal complaints not just with the NFL but also the Players` Union ?

I don`t begrudge Jay-Z , or that of his company Roc Nation entering the world of athlete management representation , while seeking to level the playing field . What I do feel in such an instance, is what appears to be the mitigated and premeditated instance , where the conduct of his company has already come into question , either by a genuine mistake or what could very well have been a preplanned effort by a representative of the business , looking to make a big splash in the sports world, as well as in the world of athlete representation. If there is an intent to do something , then at least have the common sense and intelligence to do it right , rather than coming across as a haphazard and incompetent fool ! .

The Atlanta Braves have definitely cooled off from their hot start to the season . Manager Fredi Gonzalez , however, has to be perturbed in recent weeks by team`s sudden inconsistency and the loss of a number games where they were highly favored to win . This has not been lost on Gonzalez`s staff or GM Frank Wren , as they seek to find ways to stop this fait-accompli on the players` part .

One of the bright spots to the Braves` season has been the play of Justin Upton and Evan Gattis , whereby both of these young players have stepped to the plate and they have bot been extremely productive for the team. . Upton`s elder sibling, BJ Upton has been going through his own issues having been acquired by the franchise as a free agent this off-season . The outfielder has yet to find his consistency or power albeit, that as of late he has found ways to be otherwise productive for the Braves .

Coming off a well-earned 2-1 victory over divisional rivals the Washington Nationals , the Braves do seem to be primed to perhaps increase their lead over the Nationals within the NL East , in what now appears to be a two-horse race within the division. The Braves further emphasized their recent dominance of the Nationals by repeating Saturday`s effort with a 6-3 win over Davey Johnson`s players . The Washington Nationals now have problems of their own, in sidelining Bryce Harper , placing the player on the DL , with the outfielder suffering from bursitis of is right knee . And given the issues of the Nationals last season and how they dealt with Stephen Strasburg , let`s just say , are we about to see history simply repeating itself ?

The Braves will host the Pittsburgh Pirates (35-22) , starting Monday , with a three game series at Fulton County Stadium , in Atlanta , Georgia . I am not about to suggest that the Pirates are a resilient team , giving that ball-club`s undoubted affinity for simply imploding during the season and simply falling from grace and out of contention repeatedly within the NL Central over the past few years . And no matter how optimistic manager Clint Hurdle appears to be concerning this team . One simply knows it is only a matter of time before the Pirates simply makes a mockery of their season altogether .

. On the mound for the Braves in the upcoming game will be Kris Medlen , who will be facing off against AJ Burnett , in what is sure to be a great pitching duel. From my own perspective with the retirement of Chipper Jones , as a an avowed fan of this team , I am looking forward to seeing which of the players will now seek to assume the mantle of being a vocal on the field leader of this ball club . Will it be Dan Uggla , B J Upton , Jason Heyward , Craig Kimbrell , Brian McCann or someone else on the roster coming to the fore over the course of this season ?

Te former seven-time Tour de France winner was stripped of his titles , having admitted his guilt in a doping scandal that has cast a giant shadow over the sport of cycling . The ICU , the international governing body for the sport , have themselves been extremely slow in bringing in far-reaching measures , that punishes cyclists with impunity regarding their doping . (2) U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder listens to a question at a hearing of the Senate Judiciary Committee on Capitol Hill in Washington, March 6, 2013. Holder and his office have come in for a great deal of criticism in recent months in his agency`s handling on a wide variety of issues . having first conducted an original investigation into the allegations of Lance Armstrong having been involved in doping, along with several of his teammates on the US Postal Service Cycling team . The Attorney General`s office , the US Justice Department decided not to proceed ahead , claiming that there was insufficient evidence to lead to an indictment and successful prosecution . A mere two and a half years later , it would appear that the agency will now go ahead in prosecuting Armstrong on the basis of the original evidence gathered by the USADA and WADA . It seems that the ongoing stupidity of the US Justice Department knows no boundaries in their ongoing incompetency . REUTERS/Jonathan Ernst ….

Donahoe has been reluctant to explain why it is that the US Post Office has failed to go after Lance Armstrong , and seek the return of $ 30 million paid out to the cyclist in endorsement monies , in a lucrative contract with Armstrong`s team , managed by Johann Bruyneel , a former cyclist , who himself , has come under the spotlight and glare of WADA and the ICU . (4) Rapper , and music mogul Jay-Z ,left , is seen here with New York Jets draftee Geno Smith . The player who came in for a great deal of criticism for his behavior at the NFL Draft , is now the subject of some unwanted publicity , concerning his signing with the rapper`s newly minted sports agency RocNation Sports , a full service management firm , offering sports management and some legal services . Questions have arisen, as to whether or not Smith was signed by NFL certified agent within the agency . Should that not be the case in contravention of NFL and NFLPA rules , then the player and agency itself could become subject of an investigation and a reprimand , if there is clear evidence that those measures were contravened . ……..

  1. Isn`t it good to know that a cretin such as Lance Armstrong , thinks himself above the laws of the land wile believing that they are not applicable to him at all ? Thankfully , is Live Strong Foundation has seen a major and precipitous drop off in large charitable donations from the pubic and some major corporations alike . Armstrong feigned sincerity wile duping and lying to the public en masse , yet idiots still remained loyal to this oaf in the end . Never mind that we had to be served up with that driveling piece of garbage of an interview , as Oprah Winfrey gushed over the athlete without her ever once , asking a really pertinent question of the now disgraced cyclist . Perhaps it was because , Winfrey simply knew noting about the sport , other than what she had read . While Armstrong, simply sought empathy from the public .

`Oprah understand me when I say this , my words were meant to inspire not to hurt anyone . ` Lance Armstong and Oprah Winfrey

Testicular cancer or not , Lance Armstrong remains a person of low character and very little intelligence . The sport of cycling ought to be kicked out of the Summer Olympics but IOC Chairman Jacques Rogge will no doubt , retain the sport even when cycling`s own governing body still hasn`t done enough to clean up its image and the sport in general .

So as the NFL huffs and puffs while pushing out its chest like a rooster , let`s see if there remains any common sense within the league hierarchy . Or will it be more of the same as usual from Roger Goodell and his cabale of bumbling buffoons ?

`Be sure to look out for my first solo rap CD , because I expect it to go double-platinum on RocNation`s record label , And before that , expect to see me throw for over 4500 yds and 30 TD`s in my rookie season for the Jets , No it`s not wishful thinking , because I`m gonna be that damn good !`. Jets` Geno Smith

Jigga (Jay-Z) get with the program and employ people who actually know the rules . Granted , being a sports` agent is perhaps no different from being a `coke dealer` or ` pimp ` , because it is after-all about , supply and demand .

It`s looking good for the Braves at present within the NL East as well as the NL overall , and I can`t wait to see what they will be able to do between now and the All Star Game , and the mid-season break .

  2. If the Nationals are now said to be concerned over the health of Bryce Harper . How long before they begin to become all too apprehensive when it comes to Stephen Strasburg , should he have a hang nail on his pitching hand ?

    Harper and Strasburg .

I`m not saying that the Nationals do not have problems that they cannot overcome, but given the front office`s proclivities for the over-dramatic under GM Mike Rizzo . Don`t be surprised if the ball club simply falls by the wayside as they did last season , with Rizzo and Davey Johnson making the ludicrous decision to sideline Stephen Strasburg . Thereby, foregoing their chance of a successful postseason run . And if that were not enough, they now have to deal with the possibility that starting pitcher , Gio Gonzalez and Jayson Werth might well now be linked to the burgeoning scandal that embroils Ryan Braun and Alex Rodriguez , that is linked to the South Florida supplement firm Biogenesis . Company founder Tony Bosch is now fully cooperating not only with MLB but also the federal government , having been subpoenaed by the parties in question .

  4. Eric Holder during the course of his tenure as the US Attorney General , can someone name at least one crowing moment in this idiot`s career , in his current post ? He heads up one of the largest agencies within the US government , with a budget that runs into several billion dollars , annually . And all this moron , has brought the nation , has been the “Fast & Furious “ gun running debacle , which , he claims he knew nothing about .

Sending guns down to Mexico to sell to the drug cartels , that ends up killing innocent civilians on both sides of the border , as well as both US and Mexican law enforcement officials , really does make a whole lot of sense to a damn idiot such as the Attorney General . What ideas will his department think up next ? Selling weapons of mass destruction or chemical weapons to the Taliban or Al Qaeda ? Where was the oversight and who was actually keeping track of the weapons south of the border and in some cases then finding teir way back unto US soil ? Is this te sort of incompetency that Obama wanted to reign over ? Change you don`t necessarily have to believe in , just as long as the idea looks good on paper

    ? WTF !

“Size does matter and big government is best, when you know what you`re doing . Now can someone explain to me why the economy still remains stagnant ? Eric , I believe it`s time to send in the clowns . So the US Justice Department will now look into the porn industry to see why it is so profitable and the reasons why it gets no respect from `mainstream` Hollywood “ Barack Obama & Eric Holder .

Same for the “ten percenters” out in Hollyworld.
How many are smart enough to put money aside for when they can no longer play????

An agent is like a politician , the moment that they open their mouths , you simply know that every other word about to be uttered will be a goddamn lie ! Simply look at Drew Rosenhaus , and his actions over the course of is career and many of his clients who ave fallen afoul of the law . Mind you, this covers all professional sports , and not just the NFL and football .

Rosenhaus poaches clients from fellow agents , many of whom (clients/players) are still under contract or nearing the end of a contract . Yet because , allegedly he can get the players “ the big payday“ , they will willingly jump ship , with the aggrieved party being unable to do little about it , in the end ! I mean when was teh last time you heard of an agent successfully suing another agent ? In other words , as the saying goes “ …. there is no honor among thieves “ . .

A caricature of his former self or simply an oaf all along ? `Broadway` Joe Namath

Joe Namath can barely afford the lifestyle he currently maintains and were it not for paid personal appearances , he would be entirely bankrupt and living like a hobo and drifter .

      Joe Louis `Barrow`

Joe Louis had the unfortunate situation where his manager was a lying vindictive piece of crap , who spent the boxer`s money on dumb , get rich quick schemes or simply pocketing the fighter`s earnings for his own personal use and just giving Louis a meager allowance to live on . This is one of the darker sides of the boxer`s life story that historians and fans were never made aware of . The federal government and sports in general does very little to protect the athlete and more often than not the legal representation sought or offered , tends to be from an unscrupulous source .

Far too many idiot fans of Lance Armstrong on this side of the Atlantic ,steadfastly stood by in their support of the now disgraced cyclist . And that was even in light of the mounting evidence that had began to enter the public domain .

Seven ? Multiply that figure infinitesimal and you still won`t be able to get close to the figure in terms of the number of times Lance Armstrong lied about his doping . The guy is a piece of fecal matter .

I knew that Lance Armstrong from the beginning and it became all the more obvious , the moment that his former teammate Tyler Hamilton revealed , that both he and Armstrong had in fact been doping and using EPO . Yet all along , Armstrong sought to deride and denigrate former friends , allies and even business partners who were his associates , who spoke out against him and stated that he was lying . There is not one goddamn redeeming quality to be liked about Lance Armstrong , as he remains a frigging hypocrite and a stain and stench on the sport of cycling .

Thankfully , all of Armstrong`s corporate sponsors have finally dumped his lying ass, as well as the charitable foundation , he initiated . Lance Armstrong has done more harm with regard to cancer research in terms of his lies and conceit than any other spokesman could ever have done .

If anything, Holder has done a barely average job as the country`s highest ranking law enforcement officer . How is that going to help a franchise that remains poorly supported , uncompetitive and has been for several years now ?

Tebow being acquired would only create a curiosity factor and once the team remains a loser , that interest would simply begin to disappear . So explain to me ow that would help team owner , Shahid Khan and the franchise overall ?

RocNation will either sink or swim on the efforts of Jay-z , as its figure head , along with the success of the athletes signed to his budding sports` management agency .

      1. I’ve given a number of ways that Tebow could help the Jaguars, but ultimately it comes down to that team simply not wanting to deal with Tebow’s religious fans. The Jags have absolutely nothing to lose in signing Tebow. But their arrogance may eventually be their undoing.

And sports is cutthroat, but Tim Tebow doesn’t need the NFL. He will have options outside of football. His being black balled by the NFL might actually enhance his appeal a religious speaker.

He will more than likely be very sought after as an analyst for college football as well, regardless of which agency represents him or his lack of a future in the NFL.

        1. Religion has noting to do with it , at all . The kid (Tim Tebow) now , simply cannot play at tHe highest level possible, at all . He was coddled in college and learned not a damn thing from Urban Meyer , who simply rode on te kid`s coat-tails rather than seeking to make him a better player . Is that not a clear enough picture ? If Tebow`s sexual proclivity or sexuality were part of this , would you have used that as talking point ?

          Like

          1. Religion has a lot to do with it. Like I said, Tim Tebow isn’t the only QB in the NFL with a questionable skill set. Yet there are others still on NFL rosters.

Again, I’ve never said that Tim Tebow is a good QB. But there are a lot of bad QB’s in the NFL not named Tebow, yet they’re not being black balled from the league.

Tim Tebow’s fans basically forced the Denver Broncos into playing him. Other wise they would have been more than happy keeping Kyle Orton as the starter or Brady Quinn, and they would not have been a playoff team.

The Broncos would have actually preferred losing with those guys than winning with Tebow. That scenario was proven the following season with the New York Jets. As Tebow could have done no worse than Mark Sanchez did, and mark Sanchez was awful. Yet Tebow didn’t even get the chance to try.

Winning football isn’t always pretty. If you control the time of possession and limit your turnovers, then you can win games. It’s a proven fact.

And I’m not sure what you mean as far as Tebow’s sexuality. You mean that he’s apparently a virgin? Is that what you are referring to?

            Like

            1. So now it`s religion , that is impeding Tebow becoming a player in te NFL ? If anything that is an idiotic a premise to try to make, and or lay as a foundation . What next , too many African American players ? If Tim Tebow can`t grasp the fact that nothing is handed to you on a plate and that you have to work for it . Then he doesn`t deserve to playing in the NFL .

God don`t like ugly ? Has he really cast his back on Tim Tebow ? LOL,LOL ,LOL !!! I guess God did make Tebow look so damn ordinary , after all .

You need to be reminded that the NFL is not a social program .
              .

Jets` GM John Idzik a made the right decision to cut Tim Tebow . I trust his decision making far more than I would trust Rex Ryan and Mike Tannenbaum >. After all , he (Idzik) was the guy who drafted Russell Wilson for the Seahawks, when , Pete Carroll wanted to draft a defensive lineman at the time . Look at how that worked out in the end , for the franchise in 2012 .

              1. I’m sure many in the NFL share the same religious beliefs as Tim Tebow, so it’s not that they hold his religion against him. It’s that they don’t like that the religious fervor that surrounds him from his fans.

And I’ll say it again, I never said Tim Tebow was a good QB. All I’m saying is that he’s no better or worse than some of the QB’s that will make NFL rosters as backups. You can’t say beyond all certainty that every QB on an NFL roster right now is better than Tim Tebow.

You have no way of knowing that for sure, and neither does anyone else. But at least Tebow has some tangible playing experience and success as a starter to point to, as many backups on NFL rosters right now will never even take a snap in an NFL game, much less win games as a starter or help a team to the playoffs..

The reality is that NFL coaches and GM’s have no desire or clue as how to deal with Tim Tebow’s fan base, and that’s the real reason he’s not in the NFL. Like Rex Ryan, they would rather lose than be dictated to by fans.

Regardless of his QB skills, Tim Tebow is a gifted NFL caliber athlete, you can’t deny that.

And I’m sure Idzik has gotten many personnel decisions right in his career, but he’s probably gotten just as many wrong that you don’t know about. He hit on Russell Wilson, but I’m sure he’s missed on plenty of others.

Just because you’re a GM doesn’t automatically mean you know what you’re doing. If it did, then why are GM’s getting fired so often in the NFL. It’s more than likely that Idzik will be out of a job in a few seasons with the Jets as well.

                1. What is the gift that Tim Tebow is said to have as an athlete ? Agility and speed ? Tebow has spent more time running around in circles and stumbling , on an NFL football field than a baby learning to walk for te very first time. Tebow is as slow as a snail and just as awkward .

And the success you speak of concerning Tebow with regard to 2011 and his postseason play . Are are you really trying to suggest that an NFL coach will be and should be impressed by that ? Have you actually taken a close look in-depth at the stats in question , at any real length ? You cannot be serious ?

The Steelers are now an aging team at its core and where all the hype over the likes of Polamalu is unwarranted , for a player , who is now sowing his age . As for Ben Roetlisberger , the loss of Bruce Arians as his offensive coordinator and quarterbacks` coach as really hurt his game in spite of an alleged improvement of his passing stats under Todd Haley as the offensive coordinator .

Mike Tomlin will have some real issues with the Steelers this upcoming season in the AFC North as well as the league all round .

I thought even you would understand that premise . But I guess not !

If Tebow`s jerseys only sell only 200,000 units in the Florida market and perhaps another 1 million , nationally . How much of that revenue do you actually believe will be part of the Jags` bottom line , in terms of profits ?

              1. It’s a jersey with a Jaguars logo on it sold, that wouldn’t have been sold otherwise. And a million dollars in revenue, is better than zero profit or a loss. And the Jags are taking a loss with their new logo and uniform design this year any way.

As I’ve stated before, a franchise like the Jags shouldn’t be picky about how their revenue is generated. You can’t be that arrogant when you’re at the bottom of the league in revenue and a bad team too.

All they should care about is getting that Jaguars logo out there on as many bodies as possible. I repeat, they have nothing to lose in signing Tim Tebow. And they in fact will go from near anonymity as a franchise, to being one of the most talked about in the NFL instantaneously. You can’t deny that.

The Jacksonville Jaguars would be mentioned on every sports news broadcast almost daily because the media follows Tim Tebow. If handled properly such notoriety could be a tremendous asset to a team looking to increase their brand recognition.

Even if it only lasts for a season, that’s free publicity that the Jags couldn’t buy even if they wanted to.

                1. The Jags would be better of hiring a bunch homeless individuals giving them a sandwich board with a Jags` logo as a display , offering free booze(liquor) and all the hot dogs that a fan can eat as a sales and marketing pitch , rather than having Tim Tebow .

The real issue isn`t just about te play of te team but the fact tat they ave always been in a market were te NFL simply doesn`t fly and it never will . It was only in the first few years when they actually had a team that piqued the interests of the fans in that specific market place and the fact that they made te playoffs under in `96,97,98 99 ,05 and again in 07 . Since then , there have been barren years in terms of tangible success .

Those initial successes were under a damn good coach in Tom Coughlin , who went on to bigger and better things with the New York Giants . Need I say anymore on te matter ?

You do realize that the jersey sales` revenues are shared amongst all the teams in the NFL and even when in receipt of that final revenue share , at best , it is almost insignificant ? The only franchise who do not have to worry about such an instance are the Dallas Cowboys , who have their own apparel company with a licensing agreement with the NFL , as well as other sports` corporate tie-ins with Nike , Adidas and Under Armour to make and market not only their own Cowboys` memorabilia but also that of the other 31 one teams in the NFL . That was something that Jerry Jones had the foresight to put into place long before Paul Tagliabue would see the real explosion of the media and the tv market of te NFL .

Now the rest of the league is playing catch-up , but they are hurt by te fact that they can`t derive of the revenues that te Cowboys are able to, under their own business operations . Simply put , the Cowboys have their own gravy train , while everyone else …. have theirs .

The Jaguars will more likely than not , relocate within te next four to five years, in spite of te initial statements made by team owner , Shahid Khan . His only reason at present remains te lease on Ever Bank (Field) Stadium and the penalties that would be incurred and the possible legal ramifications in breaking the lease with Duval County , Florida , owners of the venue in question .

I`ve read idiotic comments by individuals within this domain , purportedly with knowledge in this particular industry who if anything could not tell the difference between a balance sheet and a piece of aluminum sheet used for baking . Yet we had Barack Obama chastising the banking industry as being `fat cat bankers ` ? How much more smoke will he continue to blow up everyone`s @ss , before he realizes how much of a buffoon he looks with those comments ? The Post Office , beyond being an archaic relic was reluctant and slow to adopt new technology as well offering outlandish benefits to its employees , leading to one of the numerous reasons , it now finds itself such a financial morass .

Only a entity and such a money losing concern would be allowed to plow millions into sponsoring a sports entity , where that concern had moral and ethical issues , not just with the cycling team but also the team`s (Astana & US Postal Service) manager , Johann Bruyneel . Whomever , within the marketing and public relations division of the Post Office gave the go ahead on this , should have been fired .

Postmaster General , Patrick Donohoe and a number of his predecessors are simply stupid and should not be holding any position of authority, while mismanaging a concern that employs almost 1 million people nationwide .

Yes it was their intent to screw up the economy even further . Albeit , unintentionally , because these morons simply believed that the banks could and would provide their own oversight . A$sholes ! Geithner , Obama and Bernanke

Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan Chase between them received in excess of $25 billion in TARP money , that they simply did not need. Yet Barack Obama , his former Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner and Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke were telling us the money was needed to shore up the banks . Obama clearly doesn`t know bull crap about the banking industry , much less the financial sector as a whole . The banks in question and specifically , JP Morgan Chase and Goldman Sachs are back to the same old practices that almost brought the economy to its damn knees . None other than , Kyle Orton , who on is best day couldn`t lay a hooker , much less it a receiver with a 40 yard TD pass . Hell , Stevie Wonder could have been the starting QB for the Broncos that year .

Josh McDaniels having drafted Tebow , is being way too much credit as an offensive coordinator , merely because he coached Tom Brady , Brady was good long before Belichick promoted McDaniels to the position at the time . Both John Fox and John Elway knew that Tim Tebow wasn`t going to cut it , and hence the reason they sought to trade him . And by the way when your QB in games has a > completion rating and QB rating less than half of what MENSA would consider an average IQ , Don`t you think it indicative of something being definitely wrong ? Or are you simply someone, who is taking pity on a kid who still lacks a great deal of maturity and intelligence ?

Brady was already a great player , long before McDaniels assumed the role as the team`s offensive coordinator .

One should remember that in 2010 , as head coach of the Denver Broncos , Josh McDaniels failed miserably not only with the team from a competitive standpoint , but he also failed abysmally in improving Tebow`s skill-set as a player . Now this ? Really ? Are the fans that frigging naive to believe that this can actually work ? And as for the as#oles trying to make the suggestion that Belichick is simply looking to re-establish another career , as in the way that he was able to do so with Corey Dillon and Randy Moss .
