Things Will Never Be The Same ….
College Football is now in a state of disarray with the possibility of their season being completely shuttered . The Big Ten Conference considered one of the top-tier conferences has made the formal announcement to shutter the entire season. Where this now leaves College Seniors on those programs remains to be seen and whether or not they will be granted another year of eligibility . The Coronavirus will cut a swath not just through Collegiate Athletics but also throughout professional sports in general . Billions of dollars are at stake and it remains to be seen how the issue will be addressed by the conference as they undertake the decision as to whether not to curtail their season in other sports also .
NCAA President Mark Emmert and fellow members of the NCAA hierarchy will now have to take a long and hard look at the landscape of Collegiate Athletics and how the NCAA moves forward . From my own perspective, I believe it prudent for the NCAA to take a look at the well-being of the college athlete than simply take to the field purely out of greed with revenue for all of college sports runs into tens of billions of dollars annually , with the top-two revenue driven sports being College Football and College Basketball .
It now remains to be seen what other actions will be put in place by the NCAA and respective sports’ conference concerning this collegiate season of sports. Never has the NCAA itself have to deal with a crisis of this nature.

This weekend the Braves will begin a series against the Boston Red Sox at home as they close out their schedule . Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers may not have gotten off to the start that they wanted but this team will have a lot to prove over the course of the season , particularly within the NFC South , a division which the Buccaneers last won in 2007 . This weekend Brady and the Buccaneers will be meeting the Las Vegas Raiders at home. Raiders’ coach Jon Gruden will be facing his old team .
Have the San Francisco 49ers lost faith in starting quarterback Jimmy Garapollo , with the coaching staff now deciding to start Nick Mullens in his place for their week three scheduled game ? Garopollo is supposedly injured but it’d vague as to injury suffered by the player .

Far be it for me to suggest but the coaching staff and front office of the Dallas Cowboys (1-2) have some serious problems on their hands . This team is already struggling at this early stage of their season and the play of this Mick McCarthy roster doesn’t seem to bear out what Jerry Jones believes will be their year within the NFL . The Cowboys’ week three loss to Seattle Seahawks , has pretty much summed up the Cowboys and their inconsistency as a team . With the Dallas Cowboys playing in what I’ve always deemed to be an overrated NFC East division of the NFL . It will be interesting to see how they fare over the remainder of their schedule . Week four will pit the Dallas Cowboys against the Cleveland Browns in what is sure to be a very interesting contest.

One can only assume that the Conference Finals of the NBA Playoffs still has a great deal to offer at this juncture. Unfortunately , that was not the case as the Los Angeles Lakers triumphed with ease over the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference and the Miami Heat left the Boston Celtics trailing in their wake . The NBA Finals itself will begin on the 30th September with the Lakers playing host to the Heat at the Staples Center in Los Angeles , California .

The MLB season for 2020 came to an abrupt end with the teams now looking forward to their postseason which begins in earnest with the elimination wildcard round as of the 29th September . All of these games should prove to be very interesting indeed. The Tampa Bay Rays (40-20) had the best record in the AL , while that privilege went to the Los Angeles Dodgers ( 43-17) within the NL .

So the NBA Finals’ pairing is now set with the Los Angeles Lakers facing off against the Miami Heat. This series should prove to be one of the most interesting and intriguing finals in recent NBA history . Game one was taken by the Lakers in a contest which ebbed and flowed , but in the end the Los Angeles Lakers won by an eighteen point margin . Game two of the series will take place on Friday , 2nd October , 2020 .

Doc Rivers has been brought in as the new Head Coach of the Philadelphia 76ers after his seven-year stint in a similar role with the Los Angeles Clippers . In what was expected to be the Clippers’ year and perhaps a prolonged run during the NBA Playoffs the team fell short losing to the Denver Nuggets in a surprising series during the Western Conference Semi-Finals . It was a tremendous blow to the front office organization and in particular to their billionaire team owner , Steve Ballmer whose zeal to build a title contender has been ever present since the purchase of the franchise for over $2.5 billion .

Lamar Jackson has already proven himself a high caliber player , having won the NFL League MVP this past season . Jackson will be hoping that he can lead the team to even greater heights this season and the possibility of a third Superbowl title for the franchise . With their recent loss to the high powered offense of the Kansas City Chiefs led by Jackson’s opposite number , Patrick Mahomes . One could suggest that the the NFL is now in safe hands with a plethora of young quarterbacks ready to take over from their veteran contemporaries . It has been over two decades since the Dallas Cowboys last made a Superbowl appearance and with the team now having posted a 1-3 record , it’s becoming extremely difficult to see how the Cowboys stand a chance of making the postseason given the rest of their schedule . With poor defensive play and on offense which wasn’t clicking on all cylinders the Dallas Cowboys succumbed to the Cleveland Browns in one of the Cowboys’ most inept displays this season .
The Buffalo Bills have now romped off to a 4-0 start to their season . Their victory over the Los Vegas Raiders places them atop of the AFC East . If the Bills can make it five consecutive victories with their week five match-up against the Tennessee Titans , then it will be one of the franchise’s best starts to their season in several years.
Questions are likely to be raised concerning the number of NFL players who have now tested positive with the Coronavirus . Among the players having contracted the disease , New England Patriots’ quarterback Cam Newton who will be missing from the team’s lineup for tonight’s game against the unbeaten Kansas City Chiefs . Jarrett Stidham will get his first regular season start in the contest . For NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and the league hierarchy , he has to provide an explanation as to why strict protective protocols were not in place in the lead-up to the start of the regular season within the NFL .

Something has to be done in light of how the NFL will seek to deal with the number of players affected by the Coronavirus. If NFLPA Executive Director DeMaurice Smith and their union representatives are not prepared to demand more stringent protocols in order to protect the players, then the regular season could come to an abrupt and grinding halt . We’ve seen the absurdity of Donald Trump’s behavior , be it that there unsubstantiated claims the President knew of his being positive for the Coronavirus after an earlier test prior to the first Presidential debate with his opponent Joe Biden.
That sort of blatant complacency must now be questioned not only of the President , but also among his circle of advisers among the White House staff .
Far be it for me to suggest , but any inference that the league hierarchy has sought to downplay the gravity of the current situation with their being almost 20 members of Tennessee Titans’ organization having tested positive for the Coronavirus along Patriots’ starting quarterback Cam Newton , does pose the question , what steps can now be taken by the league hierarchy to strengthen their safety and testing protocols ?

The Los Angeles Lakers (3-1) are now one game away from celebrating their eighteenth NBA title as a franchise . It was LeBron James once again stepping up to the plate for the team in leading them in their game four victory over the Miami Heat (1-3) . Game five will be a must-win situation for the Miami Heat which takes place on Friday , 9th October . For Lakers’ Head Coach Frank Vogel this will be the first title of his coaching career. It could also pave the way for a coaching return of Jason Kidd who’s a lead assistant coach on Vogel’s coaching staff of the Lakers. There are a number of vacancies still unfilled around the league and it’s quite clear that Kidd’s name could be in the running for one of those positions . For one such team likely to be interested in Jason Kidd could very well be the Los Angeles Clippers who saw the abrupt departure of Doc Rivers who left by mutual agreement to then join the Philadelphia 76ers .

Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs (4-0) continued their unbeaten start to the season as they defeated the New England Patriots (2-2) on Monday Night by the score of 26-10 . New England was without starting quarterback Cam Newton , as Jarret Stidham replaced Newton in the starting lineup for the game . Both teams will be back in action for week five .

Rumblings and stumblings however the College Football Season turns out , this season in of itself will be one where fans will continue to question the validity of the season , simply because of the environment and what the schedule has undergone . Several programs will not be playing an entire season by way of their regular season games . We should also remember a number of conferences have sought to forgo the season entirely and it begs the question will this year’s national champion (FBS) be a valid one ?
Week six will bring about several games of interest , with Clemson taking on the Miami Hurricanes in a game which could shake up the rankings at the end of the contest .

It looks as the regular season of the Tennessee Titans could very well go up in smoke with the organization being penalized with hard-hitting fines and possibility of their forfeiting future NFL Draft picks . Serious breaches of protocol have taken place whereby the front office and coaching staff , might well have been aware that players , as well as other personnel were not following league guidelines with regard to quarantine procedures related the Coronavirus outbreak . Games due during week five and week six of the team’s regular season are now in jeopardy along with their entire season in general . It will be interesting to see which players around the NBA are likely to be on the move as teams look to save themselves cap space heading into the upcoming season , bearing in mind there’s said to be a good draft class on the way . LaMelo Ball is said to be the consensus number one overall pick , but I cannot see the Minnesota Timberwolves believing that ball is the answer to their prayers at this juncture . Their current roster and the coaching staff of Ryan Saunders has a team which performed well during the regular season .
Karl-Anthony Towns remains the best player on the Timberwolves’ roster by far and the front office will seek to lock the player up to a long-term contract . Towns isn’t eligible to become a free agent until 2024 .

The Los Angeles Lakers (4-2) routed the Miami Heat (2-4) in game six of the 2020 NBA Finals , with the Lakers winning their seventeenth NBA title along the way . LeBron Jameas already a Finals MVP was clearly the leader on this Lakers’ roster throughout the Finals though it could be said this was also an all round effort wit several players chipping in productively, with namely Rajon Rondo and Anthony Davis showing veteran acumen . There were several reasons why the Lakers won this series and needless to say it had a great deal to do with the play of LeBron James .
For the Miami Heat this was a valiant effort but it bodes well for this franchise’s future where they have a roster of young stars and the veteran leadership of Jimmy Butler who’ll likely be signed to a long-term contract with the Heat under the guidance of Eric Spoelstra , the Head Coach and front office executive Pat Riley , Senior Vice President of the franchise .

There’s an early change within the coaching roster around the NFL , with the firing of Dan Quinn of the Atlanta Falcons the promotion of Raheem Morris as Interim Head Coach until the end of the regular season . It’s now back to the drawing board for the New York Yankees once again as the managerial staff , front office executives will have to reassess their entire roster after the team’s undoubted failures this postseason . More stunning was their total capitulation against the Tampa Bay Rays in the ALDS where the team performed terribly throughout this series against the Rays. Manager Aaron Boone has to be wondering if his players have any heart and where is the leadership meant to be coming from their experienced veterans and highly paid stars on this roster ? They will head into this off-season likely looking to add by subtraction , looking to free agents and by way of their farm system. General Manager Brian Cashman will leave no stone un-turned by way of acquiring players even if it means breaking the bank once again and pushing their payroll above $220 million . Among their free agents this off-season will be Masahiro Tanaka . Giancarlo Stanton , J A Happ and Zack Britton .

The Tampa Bays have now taken a sizable lead over the Houston Astros in their ALCS , with the winner being the AL representative in this year’s World Series . The winner will await the NLCS match-up between the Atlanta Braves and Los Angeles Dodgers . A game four victory for the Rays who lead the Astros 3-0 would place them in another appearance for the World Series as the franchise seeks it’s very first World Series’ title . Tampa’s last appearance came by way of the 2008 World Series , which resulted in their 4-1 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies .
Last night’s game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Atlanta Braves proved to be truly entertaining on a number of levels . The Braves currently hold a 2-0 lead over the highly praised Dodgers who had the best record in the Majors this season .

Nick Saban the esteemed Head Coach of the Alabama Crimson Tide Football program has tested positive for the Coronavirus along with the school’s Athletic Director . As to what this says about the protocols put in place by the NCAA leaves a lot of new found questions which need to be answered. For Alabama whose football schedule leaves them in a desirable place within the SEC as well as the national ranking their season to date has gone as expected , with an unbeaten run among the players . In their next game Alabama is due to meet Georgia in what could turn out to be the College Game of the day during week seven of this season.

The Tampa Bay Rays have taken what appears to be an insurmountable 3-1 lead after four games of their seven game series in the ALCS against the Houston Astros . They are now one win away from making the franchise’s only second appearance in the World Series . In my honest opinion Rays’ manager , Kevin Cash is likely to be named the AL Manager of the Year , having guided the Rays to a divisional title , the best record in the AL and second best record overall in the Majors . Game five of their series against the Astros will take place Thursday , 15th October , 2020 .
In the NLCS match-up between the Atlanta Braves and Los Angeles Dodgers , that game on Wednesday afternoon turned out to be an explosive day of productivity for the Dodgers’ offense as they blasted the Braves on their way to a 15-3 victory . In their next game when these two teams meet there are likely to be even more fireworks .

All signs are pointing to several players on the Los Angeles Lakers’ roster seeking to opt-out of their current deals while seeking to up the ante in terms of their worth . Kentavious Caldwell-Pope , Rajon Rondo are the two players who’ve already opted out . With their value deemed higher it will be interesting to see what input will come from LeBron James and the front office of the Lakers where Jeanie Buss and GM Rob Pelinka . With the salary cap for the upcoming season deemed to upwards of $115 million , given the issues seen with this season. It’s pretty much safe to say the Lakers won’t be seeking to head above any type of luxury tax.
One player definitely returning to the Lakers for next season will be center Anthony Davis who’s likely to be signed to a max contract with the franchise .

I’ll continue to say it , the Dallas Cowboys are the most flawed and overrated sports’ franchises in North American sports with their owner , being one of the most obnoxious and outspoken individuals not just in the world of sports but public life in general . Jerry Jones beyond being arrogant. it is plain to see , the man is morally and ethically challenged . With that being said, last night’s performance by the Cowboys in their loss to the Arizona Cardinals told us a great deal about both teams and the apparent directions they are heading in. Mike McCarthy was supposedly seen as the right fit to coach this roster of highly paid players, but it appears that McCarthy’s coaching abilities are not quite what they were cracked up to be . In week seven the Cowboys are set to face the Washington Team in a divisional match-up of real implications for both teams .
Andy Dalton as the replacement for the injured Dak Prescott has simply proven that at best he’s just another moderate back-up quarterback and not much beyond that wherein his career hasn’t been overly impressive.

If the Dodgers were to take a 2-0 lead , then I believe that they could very well sweep the Rays on their way to their first title since 1988

There’s a real likelihood if the Dallas Cowboys suffer another defeat over their next three games then the tenure of Mike McCarthy as Head Coach could come to an abrupt end . Though they are at the top of the NFC East with a rather thin 2-4 record after week six of the league schedule . Week seven will see the Cowboys face divisional rivals the Washington Football Team . A loss to the Redskins and there very well be the changes within the coaching roster many believe should be taking place .
The game of the day this weekend within the NFL will pit two 5-0 teams when the Pittsburgh Steelers face off against the Tennessee Titans .

Tyronn Lue is expected to be named as the new Head Coach of the Los Angles Clippers , succeeding Doc Rivers , who resigned his position to accept the coaching spot with the Philadelphia 76ers . With the NBA Draft still to take place and with players deciding their free agency status , it will be interesting to see what moves are made and how the cap which will be in the region of $115 million will tie in with the moves likely to be made .

Week eight in College Football and with the Big Ten Conference yet to open their schedule . One has to ask will this season be somehow devalued ? Alabama will face off against Tennessee (Volunteers) this Saturday in what should prove to be a very entertaining game . Number one ranked Clemson will be in for a good contest when they face Syracuse .
